Who we are :
I am Samrawit Berhane, the founder of Mogogo Eatery, an Eritrean & Ethiopian Food Truck. I was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and moved to the United states at a young age. I originally lived in Louisville, Kentucky then later moved to Ashville, North Carolina where I completed high school. After high school I moved to New York where I fell in love with street food. I later moved to Washington DC and began my career in the food industry. I have been working in the food industry for over 12 years and opening this food truck has been the finest part of my career. I fell in love with the food industry at an high end Ethiopian restaurant that I managed in George Town, DC, I managed this restaurant for over 7yrs. I later moved to Ethiopia and opened my own restaurant. Now it is time to become a part of the growing Carolina's food truck community as well as the healthy food movement by offering dishes that are healthy and unique to most palettes. Mogogo is the first Ethiopian food truck in the Carolina’s.
Mogogo is a griddle made from either a large black clay plate placed over a fire or a specialized electric flat surface stove. Mogogo is used to bake the thin-like-crepe traditional bread called Injera. Our Injera is made from Teff; which is a special grain grown in Ethiopia and it is GMO free, Gluten free, high in fiber, and high source of protein.
Ethiopian Food is like?
For those that have never tired it "its a game changer" and those who have tried it can definitely attest to that. Mogogo Eatery will provide an unbelievably delicious taste that is sure to be an introduction to the Ethiopian cultural, authentic flavor, and new way of healthy eating; all with a modern street twist.
